The First Annual " Illuminate the Unisphere in Pink and Blue for Autism Awareness Month ".

The Unisphere in Flushing Meadows park  was lit- up to turned to pink and blue to raise Autism awareness month yesterday, April 1st.  The weather was not very cooperative, so all the activities were moved to the Queens Musuem of Art on the 2nd floor. There were arts and crafts for the children, resources and some inspirational key note speakers who were very passionate about in helping families affected by this nervous disorder. All this efforts were the idea  of  a wonderful parent whose little girl has ASD. She was joined by some amazing people who are advocates in helping children with special needs especially for those who are under the Autism Spectrum Disorder. We, as a family went there to support this cause and to help raise awareness of Autism in the community. This is for my little guy who is very special in his own way :)

The Angry Birds of Queens!

The Angry birds birthday theme.

My son loves to play the Angry Birds games on the Ipad. He asked me, if we could have these birds over to celebrate his birthday which was 2 weeks ago. So, I started doing my research or also known as pinning in at my Pinterest board. I did find a lot of inspiring and DIY ideas by surfing the interenet. I got the a lot of  ideas and how-to instructions from my cupcakes from these amazing mommies in Craftingchicks.com
My second batch of angry birds cupcakes for his school party!
My first batch was a hit. It was not the perfect replica of the angry birds but my son was very thankfull for all the effort I had done to make his birthday more fun!

I bought all his angry birds paper plates, napkins and paper cups from partycity.com for half off the regular price. Lucky me :)
We created a feeding station with gummy worms,
swedish fishes, skittles and jelly beans to fill- up our
 guest goody bags.
Our arts and crafts projects to keep our guest entertained . We got all
the printable template and inspirations at  the contemplative creative blog and party animal blog.org

More cupacakes for the party, hooray!!!

I created a big Angry bird cake to blow his birthday candle with .

The crazy pigs!

The crazy pigs, post party pictures!

An army of the Angry birds goody bag!

Goody bags for all!

Most of the items that I had used here were locally bought around my neighborhood. I can say check out your local discount stores (99 Cents store) for solid color plates for your arts and crafts ideas. I also bought some colored napkins and basic colored utensils to mixed up with my Angry bird theme. You will be amazed on how many stuff you could find in these stores.  I went to my neighborhood Target branch here in Queens for the paper bags it cost me only less than $5 for a 40 pieces of colored paper bags. They come in white, red, blue and brown. I made most of my cup cakes from scratch but i did bought the food coloring, colored sprinkles,  and sugar free icing from the Target store to make it more manageable for me to create a good amount of Angry birds cupcakes.
